My Dad, Rev. Dewey McIntyre, from Pearl Lake Road was longtime friends with Hon. Bergin Sr... Mayor Mike Bergin and I had a quick chats, he was always busy and I worked for the City. He inspired me to leave Waterbury, get my degrees, 'see the world and then return in a few years'. So I left, got my degrees and now I'm back in Waterbury. So sorry for your loss! As a retiree from City of Waterbury I wish to extend my deepest condolences to the Bergin family. In 1995 after 15 yrs of service I became ill and was forced to leave my job at City Welfare. I had no clue as to how I would provide for my family as a single parent, but Mayor Bergin along with other city officials granted me a disability city pension and continued medical coverage. Today I have to thank Mike Bergin for caring about this city employee. I will forever be grateful and will always have him in my heart. God Bless and Peace to his family. He most certainly earned his wings I believe this because Heaven is so Real.
