A.Robert Mc Knack, PhD.
A.Robert Mc Knack, formerly of Cheshire CT and New York City died Sunday, November 22, 2015, at Maplewood at Stony Hill in Bethel CT. His beloved wife of forty-seven years, Antoinette [Leone] Mc Knack, with whom he traveled extensively, predeceased him in 2009.
Dr. Mc Knack was born in Waterbury CT, the son of Andrew and Agnes [Woods] McKnack.
He was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and received his BA and MA degrees from Fairfield University. He later completed his doctoral programs at Fordham University and Columbia University and worked in New York for a number of years before returning to Connecticut to take the position of Director of Admissions at Waterbury State Technical College.
Dr. Mc Knack was a member of the New York Athletic Club and the Waterbury Club as well as various professional organizations.
He is survived by a sister, Jayne Woods Mc Knack of Woodbury, a niece, Dawn Darmody Manning of Marietta, GA, his grand nephew Kyle Manning of Marietta, GA, and his brother in law, Philip Leone and his wife Margaret . His sister Carolyn [Mc Knack] Darmody died in 1998.
Friends are asked to meet directly at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Platt Road, Watertown, on Tuesday, November 24 at 11:00a.m.
In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to a charity of their choice.
A memorial Mass will be scheduled at a later date at Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Southbury. Arrangements are in charge of the Bergin Funeral Home in Waterbury.
