Obituary

Waterbury- Mr. Abas Mustafai, 68, of Oak Hollow Drive, died Friday, October 24, at Waterbury Hospital after being struck by a motor vehicle. He was the husband of Lirije (Sherifi) Mustafai.He was born in Prespa, Kranje, Arvat, Macedonia on January 2, 1940 to the late Ferik and Mysyko (Larti) Mustafai. Abas came to the U.S. in 1968. He married Lirije in 1976, and later retired from Scovill Brass Factory where he worked in the casting shop. He volunteered at Waterbury Hospital for the past five years. Was very active in the Albanian Community as he was a founding member of the Democratic Party of Kosova in Connecticut. He liked to talk politics. He was a member in the Albanian American  Mosque on Raymond Street as well as the Albanian-American Culture and Islamic Center- Hasan Prishtina of Columbia Blvd.Abas was a very kind man and his family always came first.  He visited his friends daily at the Mall, and was never short on smiles and laughter.  He loved the outdoors and jogging in the morning. Abas traveled abroad, made wine, and was an avid reader. Besides his wife he is survived by; three sons, Arben, Ferik and Laert Mustafai all of Waterbury, a brother; Ali Aliu of Kosova, four sisters; Ismet Demiri of Macedonia, Ysnije Haxhilari of Waterbury, Resmije Agolli of Waterbury, Menduije Qoku of Macedonia, and several nieces and nephews.Arrangements; Family will receive friends, today, at Bergin Funeral Home, 290 E. Main Street,  from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, at 10:00 A.M Everyone is asked to gather at 9:30 A.M. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
