Waterbury – Mr. Albert R. Well, 63, passed away on Thursday, October 6, after hearing "I love you"from his wife and children one last time. He was the husband of Elizabeth M. (Sullivan) Well.
Al was born July 2, 1959 in Waterbury, son of the late Albert D. and Muriel (Talbot) Well. Raised in Waterbury he attended St Mary Grammar School and was a graduate of W. F. Kaynor Technical High School, class of 1978, where he studied carpentry and tried his best to look like John Belushi.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Stephen M.C. Well of Waterbury and Scott A. Well of Naugatuck; his daughter, Katie E. Well of Waterbury; two brothers, Donald Well and his wife Olga of Corpus Christi, TX and David Well of Moose Pass, AK; his sister, Joy LaRiviere of Maybrook, NY; his granddaughter, Aubrie Well-Famiglietti of Waterbury, and his beloved nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his in-laws, Francis and Margaret Sullivan of Naples, FL, Robert Sullivan and Diane Sullivan, both of Sandwich, MA. He is predeceased by his sister Linda Anderson.
Albert enjoyed life. This was reflected in his love of nature, and all things on the water. He was an avid fisherman, pursuing mostly bass, both locally and in Texas. He loved to cook. He was famous, throughout his life, for his elaborate parties for family and friends. The joy of his life was introducing his granddaughter to these activities and more. Aubrie is also adept at plowing, driving a boat and an excavator. They especially loved their trips to Las Vegas to visit family.
His work life was varied and brought him countless friends and colleagues. He was a contractor, business manager and caterer. Some of his favorite projects included participating in the restoration of The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, and the operation of St Mary School for more than 10 years. More recently, he assisted the parish of St Mary's Russian Orthodox Church with their transition to Terryville and renovation of the Plymouth Food Pantry.
The family would to thank the staff of St Mary Hospital, VITAS Hospice and especially Dr Edmund Caporaso and his staff for their excellent care.
