It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the loss of our beloved Alfredo “Cano” Astacio Soto. Alfedo passed away at the age of 58 on December 23, 2025, in Waterbury, CT. Alfredo was a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who touched the lives of everyone around him. 

Alfredo was born in Juan Diaz, Puerto Rico on May 3, 1967, son of Carmen Iris Soto and the late Ramon Astacio. He relocated to Waterbury,Ct in the 1980s where he attended Wilby High School. He worked several jobs throughout the years including Lighting Service Inc., Saint Vincent de Paul Shelter, and most recently delivering newspapers for Republican-American. 

Including his mother Carmen, Alfredo is survived by his loving children: Shadene Astacio-Brown (Joseph), Lesli Smyth (Ian), and Jennifer Brown. His legacy lives on in his grandchildren Donte, Edward, Iman, Xenia, Versai, Anais, Aamir, and Yahmina, as well as his great-grandchild Kingston. He is also survived by his siblings: Rosa Sanabria, Jorge Astacio, Miguel Astacio, and Iris Astacio, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. 

He was predeceased by his 5 siblings, his father, Ramon, and the love of his life Xenia Massey.
