Mrs. Alice G. Moss
Wolcott - Alice Graveline Moss, of Pine Street, passed away August 10, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the widow of Walter G. Moss.
Mrs. Moss was born in Waterbury, daughter of the late Solomon and Antoinette Graveline. She was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School. She worked for the Scovill Manufacturing Company. Alice was the co-owner of Bond-Aluminum siding and Cue and Cushion Billiard Lounge on Hamilton Ave for many years with her two brothers Gene and Luke Graveline. Mrs. Moss also worked for Hobson associates in Southington. She opened her own business in Waterbury called A.G.M. associates for job head hunting. Alice also worked for the G Fox/Filenes/Macy company in Waterbury in the furniture department for seventeen years in which she retired from.
Mrs. Moss also enjoyed playing golf in her early years, playing at the East Mountain Golf course in the Women's league. She was a former member of the Wolcott Republican Town Committee and avid sponsor in local and national Republican politics. She was a Justice of the Peace in Wolcott for many years, retiring recently. Alice sponsored numerous children throughout the world with her contributions. She enjoyed spending time with her extended family, taking many trips to Hawaii and to her favorite place in Block Island, RI. She enjoyed her "walks around the Block" at all hours with her dog Pappy. Alice will also be remembered by the numerous hats she wore throughout the years. She loved to have summer parties on her deck at home and her most favorite time was during Christmas in which she celebrated Christmas Eve with her family, at home. She will be sorely missed by her family, never forgotten and is loved deeply.
Alice is survived by many nieces, Lisa Bernier Fujikawa and her daughters, Tiffany and Alysa of Hawaii, Judi Bernier Vagt and her daughter Kelly of Naugatuck, whom Mrs. Moss raised after her sister Blanche passed away. She is also survived by a niece, Diana Schlander and her son Richard A. Poplis of Waterbury, nieces, Cheryl Koenemund and Ann Graveline and her daughter Melissa Graveline of Waterbury. Special thanks to Diane Bearce of Watertown, a great niece who has helped the family numerous times in times of need. Alice is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was pre deceased by seven brothers, Joseph, Raymond, Edward, James, Arthur, Eugene and Luke, five sisters, Ida, Rose, Florence, Nora and Blanche.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all the medical staff at St. Mary's Hospital and to Xavier 3 staff during Alice's stay. Special thanks to Nurse Katherine and Dr. Shiek for their care and compassion given to our Aunt Alice.
Arrangements: A funeral will be held on Friday, August 14, from Bergin Funeral Home, 290 E. Main Street, Waterbury, at 8:45 A.M. to arrive at St. Pius X Church in Wolcott, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. Calling Hours will be held Thursday, at the Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made, in her name, to the Alzheimer's Association CT Chapter, 279 New Britain Rd.
