WATERBURY — Ana E. Caballero, 88, of Cooke Street, died Sunday, March 1, 2009, at home. She was the widow to Miguel Caballero.
Mrs. Caballero was born May 3, 1920, in Santiago, Dominican Republic daughter of the late Urbano and Melania (Minaya) Portillo.
Mrs. Caballero was a member of Sacred Heart, Sagrado Corazon Church and loved to participate with La Casa Bienvenida. Ana worked as a seamstress years ago in New York City. She enjoyed sewing, dancing and her grandchildren. She will be forever remembered as being a sweet mother and grandmother.
Ana is survived by three daughters, Gladys Maldonado of Waterbury, Zoila Rogue of Waterbury, Julia Llaverias of Palm Bay, FLA, a step-son, Master Sergeant William Caballero of Texas, ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Ana was predeceased by three brothers, Faustino Portillo, Andres Portillo, Domingo Portillo and a sister Filomena Minier.
