WATERBURY — Arlene D. (Denshick) Owens, 79, of formerly of Cardinal Lane, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011, at Waterbury Hospital. She was the wife of the late Charles G. Owens.
Arlene was born Sept. 1, 1932, in New Britain, daughter of the late Frank & Arline (Needham) Denshick. She was a graduate of New Britain High School and had been an employee of the A&P Company for 45 years. Arlene was a longtime communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. She enjoyed reading, museums, history, especially the history of Egyptian Culture. She loved all of her Law & Orders as well as listening to Andre Rieu. Arlene enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Arlene is survived by her brother & sister-in-law, Robert & Lorraine Denshick of South Windsor; a sister-in-law Irene Owens of Wolcott, her seven children & nine grandchildren: Gregory Owens & wife Kim (Steven & Andrew) of Suwanee, GA; Gary Owens & wife Eileen (Shannon) of Naugatuck; John Owens of Waterbury; Ellen Owens of Waterford; Mary Gibrall & husband Philip (Jillian Van Winkle, Ava & Ann Margaret Gibrall) of Richmond, VA; Nancy Santos & husband Hank (Eric & Kyle) of Bristol, & Cynthia Carta (Ashley) of Plainville. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, & great nieces & nephews. Arlene was predeceased by her first husband, Raymond Peter Brownstein of New Britain.
Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 1, at 9:15 A.M. from the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. to Blessed Sacrament Church for mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in New St. Joseph Cemetery, Waterbury. Calling hours are Friday, September 30, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
