Obituary

Waterbury- Mrs. Barbara M. (Crelan) Gegenheimer, 58, died Wednesday evening, July 4, at VITAS Innovative Care Unit in St. Mary's Hospital. She was the widow of Philip B. Gegenheimer.

Barbara was born in Waterbury on April 29, 1954 daughter of the late Edward J. and Anna (Kwajauskas) Crelan. Raised in Waterbury she was a graduate of St. Mary's Grammar School and Crosby High School class of 1974. She had been employed by the City of Waterbury for 29 years, serving 26 of them as a crossing guard at Maloney Magnet School. Although her health declined over the years she persevered, whether rain or shine she was there halting traffic with her stop sign safely crossing the children she loved.

She enjoyed cheering on the Boston Red Sox and an occasional trip to the casino and playing cards and bingo with her friends at Josephine Towers. She will be remembered for living life to the fullest.

The family would like to thank her caring doctors, Dr. Marc Raad, Dr. Richard Silverman and Dr. Paul Kelly. They would also like to thank the nurse's in ICU at St. Mary's, especially Bruce and Amy.

She is survived by two sons, Richard P. Gegenheimer of West Palm Beach, FL and Philip H.P. Gegenheimer and his wife Felechia of Waterbury; her sister, Nancy A. Crelan of Waterbury; her grandson, Avery and two nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Carole Crelan Ragauskas.

Arrangements: Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 8, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury. Burial will be private in New Pine Grove Cemetery.
