Waterbury- Mr. Carl "Alan" Geary, 79, died Saturday, July 19, at the Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Charlotte (Finke) Geary.
Alan was born May 21, 1935 in Waterbury, son of the late Carl W. and Mary (Slater) Geary. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Leavenworth High School. At the age of 12 with one little garden tractor he started his business, eventually turning that company into a full service excavating and utility contractor, Carl Geary and Son, Inc.
Alan was a member of Harmony Lodge # 42 AF & AM and received his 50 year pin in January, member of the 32nd Degree A.A.S.R. Scottish Rite and the A.A.O.N.M.S., Sphinx Temple in Newington and a member of their Imperial Council.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his son, Scott A. Geary and his companion Kristen Mathieu of Watertown; his daughter, Donna Geary-Fortin and her husband Wayne of Wolcott; his sister, June Riley of Bethany; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements: Calling hours will be held on Wednesday morning, July 23, from 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury. A Masonic service will be held at 11:30 A.M. followed by funeral services at 12:00 P.M. Burial will be in Old Pine Grove Cemetery.
