Waterbury – Carmen (Rivera) Marti, 80, passed away on January 6, 2020 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the widow of Mr. Angel Marti who predeceased her in 2009. Carmen was born on April 3, 1939 in Yabicoa, PR., daughter of the late Arcadio Jose Rivera and Michaela Amaro. She is also predeceased by her "second mom," Carmelina Rivera, the woman who raised her. Carmen enjoyed bingo, poetry, arts and crafts, music, and cherished the time she was able to spend with her loving family. Carmen is survived by her 8 children, Vivian Diaz, Sandra Rodriguez, Luis Angel Rodriguez, Lourdes Iglesias, Wanda Benitez, Aracelis Virella, Maritza Richardson, and Jose Angel Degros; 27 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; five brothers and sisters; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Jose Angel Rodriguez; daughter Evelyn Iglesias; and three siblings. The family would like to thank everyone at Daybreak Adult Day Services for the love and fun they showed to Carmen. Family and friends may call on Friday, January 10, 2020 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Bergin Funeral Home, 290 E. Main St., Waterbury. Burial will be held privately.
