Obituary
Waterbury- Catherine (Manzella) Genova, 68, died Monday evening, July 9, at the Paradigm Healthcare Center of Torrington.
Catherine was born August 23, 1943 in Waterbury daughter of the late Gaetano and Evelyn (Ryan) Manzella. Raised in Waterbury she was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School and the St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing class of 1964. She began her career in nursing at St. Mary's Hospital and devoted 26 years to nursing at St. Mary's. She then went on to work in nursing for the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections in Cheshire for ten years, retiring in 2000. Her greatest joy was time spent with her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Lisa A. Roy and her husband James of Wolcott and Toni M. Genova of Waterbury; six grandchildren, Jordan Genova and David and Owen Hailstones all of Waterbury and Bailey, Gabrielle and Delaney Roy all of Wolcott and her cousin, Catherine Bonacassio. She was predeceased by two brothers, Frank and Edmond Manzella and one sister, Donna Manzella.
The family would like to thank the staff of Paradigm Healthcare Center of Torrington for the loving care given to Catherine.
Arrangements: A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, July 14, at 10:00 A.M. at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, family and friends are asked to meet at church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, July 13, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Catherine's name to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105-3678.
