Obituary

Waterbury- Cindy L. Hill, 51, passed away December 13, at Waterbury Hospital after a short battle with cancer. Cindy will be missed by her family and friends in and around Waterbury.

Cindy leaves her son, Michael, her best friend, constant companion and her pride and joy. She is also survived by her mother, Mary Hill of Waterbury; her brother, Jamie Hill of Meriden; her three sisters, Janet M. Hill of Waterbury, Tammy L. Hill of Naugatuck and Lori Hill of Waterbury and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, David Ernest Hill, Sr and four brothers, Ernest Hill, Alan Hill, David E. Hill, Jr and Darryl Hill.

Cindy was employed by the Waterbury Republican American and worked in the circulation department for a number of years; she also spent some time volunteering there. Anyone who really knew Cindy realizes that many organizations in Waterbury will miss her tireless efforts, Cindy volunteered for many causes. Among those who received countless benefits for her efforts are the Boys and Girls Club of Waterbury, Ryan Gomes' Hoops for Heart Health Foundation and St. Mary's School. She was an integral part in making arrangements for the Angolan basketball team that visited Waterbury in September.

Cindy was also involved with many political campaigns, regardless of the party affiliation, by calling constituents to get out and vote. She recently advised Victor Cuevas, of the 75th district, to ride city buses in an effort to meet some constituents he might not otherwise reach. He rode up and down Baldwin and Willow Streets on the bus at rush hour and endeared himself to many voters. "When Cindy spoke it was in a way only Cindy could communicate. It was always well thought out and to the point. Cindy had a great feel for people from all different backgrounds. Not afraid to fight for what she believed in, Cindy Hill was one of Waterbury's best resources."

Arrangements: A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 21, at 11:00 A.M. at the Calvary Baptist Church 3000 North Main St. Waterbury with Pastor Craig P. Scott officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery will be private.
