Waterbury - Daniel P. Dunn passed away suddenly Friday, January 30, 2026, at 79 years old. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Foley) Dunn for 53 years.

He was a Navy veteran during the Vietnam war on the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier. He worked for 35 years for Marvel Screw Machine and after retirement he worked as a crossing guard at Duggan School and at Easter Seals for 10 more years until he retired at the age of 78.

He was the son of Eileen (Cavanaugh) Dunn and William Dunn, both deceased. He also had a brother Raymond who is deceased. He loved his German Shepherd, Molly, who is also deceased.

He has survived by his wife, Mary (Foley) Dunn, his son, Patrick Dunn of Charlestown Rhode Island, and his daughter, Carrie of Waterbury, several cousins and nieces and nephews.

He was a quiet, gentle, devoted husband, to his family, and had a good sense of humor. He worked hard all his life, even after retirement. He was loved by all his neighbors and enjoyed going to Block Island for the last 40 years. He also played Santa for the Bunker Hill neighborhood tree lighting, riding the fire engine and seeing many children for over 25 years.

Visitation will be held prior from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Bergin Funeral Home, 290 East Main Street, Waterbury.
