Mrs. Denise G. Lemay
Waterbury — Denise G. (Larochelle) Lemay, 78, of Center Street, died Tuesday, March 4, at Wolcott View Manor, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mrs. Lemay was born July 8, 1929, in Shawiningan, Quebec, Canada to the late Ludovic and Aurore (Proulx) LaRochelle.
In her younger years, she was very passionate about dancing. Denise also had the ability to speak and write fluent French and English. She was a hard worker and noted she worked at Heminway and Bartlett in Watertown from 1968-1980 first as a shipping Clerk then as an Expediter. She then went to work for G.Fox and Filiene's for several years and retired at the age of 62. Denise was very involved and devoted to her faith and the Immaculate Conception Church of Waterbury. She worked the Prayer Line for many years, and walked to church everyday to attend Mass, until her illness overcame her ability. Denise loved to socialize with people and always made a friend with her kindness, truly had a wonderful honest heart. She worked for her community and volunteered her time at St. Mary's Hospital and the Silas Bronson Library also enjoyed other things such as sewing, needlepoint, bowling, swimming, and traveling.
She is survived by two sons Michael LeMay of FL, Dennis Lemay of Wolcott, a daughter Suzanne Diorio of Watertown, three brothers Simon, Andre and Benoit Larochelle, two sisters; Gisele Lefort and Huguette Larochelle all of Canada, ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son; Rene Lemay, a brother; Fabien, four sisters; Madeline Lajoie, Pouline Doyon, Mariette Richard and Angele Larochelle. Arrangements: A funeral will be held Friday directly at the Immaculate Conception Church for a mass at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Bergin Funeral Home, has care of the arrangements.
