Obituary

Waterbury- Mrs. Djamila W. Szynkiewicz passed away on Monday, July 4, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the wife of James Szynkiewicz.

She was born on December 15, 1928 in Paris, France daughter of the late M. Wali Khan and Eleanor (Hertzog) Wali Khan. She lived for many years in Cairo, Egypt and was a graduate of the American University in Cairo; she was a longtime resident of Waterbury.

Mrs. Szynkiewicz worked for a number of years at the T. Sendzimir, Inc. and the Waterbury School food program, followed by many years as a volunteer for the Literacy Program and at St. Mary's Hospital. She enjoyed traveling, reading and collecting thimbles.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Andrea Linda of Goleta, CA and her son, Tim Jason of Syracuse, NY.

Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are in the care of the Bergin Funeral Home of Waterbury.
