Waterbury- Mr. Domingo "Mingo" Maldonado, formerly of Penuelas, Puerto Rico, died Saturday, March 17, at Aurora Senior Living in Waterbury. He was the widower of Miriam (Santiago) Maldonado, his childhood sweetheart.
Mr. Maldonado was born April 9, 1945 in Puerto Rico son of the late Monserrate and Vincenta Sierra Maldonado. He was a longtime resident of Waterbury. He had been employed as a foreman at Century Brass and was the owner and instructor of Economy Driving School. Domingo was admired and took pride in his commitment in the Hispanic community. He had been an active member of the former St. Cecilia's Church, enjoyed baseball and was a huge fan of the NY Yankees.
He is survived by his four children, Lillian, Lourdes, Robert and Myriam Maldonado; seven grandchildren, Daniel Roman, Kristina Roman, Anthony, Andrew and Melissa Plaza, Kayci Ferrer and Amanda Maldonado. He also leaves his siblings, Adela Maldonado, Matilda Rodrigues and Felix Maldonado.
Arrangements: A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, March 21, at Sacred Heart Sagrado Corazon Church. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury.
