Cheshire – Mrs. Doris (Cosgrove) Nutbrown, 96, passed away on Sunday, December 13, at Waterbury Hospital. She was the widow of James C. Nutbrown.
Mrs. Nutbrown was born January 31, 1919 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Wall) Cosgrove. Doris worked as a nursing aid for the American Red Cross, as a phone operator for SNET & for CL&P. Doris had the honor of witnessing multiple generations throughout the years that she was very dedicated to. She was accepted into Radcliffe College but chose to stay home to help support her family through the depression. She was a very generous person as she donated to countless charities.
She is survived by one son, James M. Nutbrown; two granddaughters, Nicole and Kristi Nutbrown; her daughter-in-law, Debbie Nutbrown all of Waterbury and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Randall P. Nutbrown.
Arrangements: Family, friends, and others whose lives Doris has touched are invited to Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St., Waterbury from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, January 7. A funeral Mass will follow at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception at 11:00 A.M. Burial is private.
