Prospect- Mrs. Eleanor R. (Manthey) O'Connell, 80, of Putting Green Lane, died Tuesday, January 28 at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. She was the widow of Thomas M. O'Connell.
Mrs. O'Connell was born September 23, 1927 in Waterbury daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Krankota) Manthey. Raised in Waterbury she attended local schools and was retired from St. Mary's Hospital. She was a communicant of St. Anthony Church and will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.
She is survived by three sons, Michael R. O'Connell of Prospect, Robert T. O'Connell of Earleville, MD and Thomas M. O'Connell of Waterbury; three daughters, Mary E. Castro of Wolcott, Carol O. Novak of Cheshire and Patricia A. Iraci of Prospect with whom she lived; three sisters, Betty Sousa of Naugatuck, Mary Secula of Wolcott and Roberta SantaMaria of Waterbury; thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Arlene SantaMaria.
Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 31 at 9:15 A.M. from the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury to St. Anthony Church, Prospect for mass at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours are this evening (Wednesday) from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
