Waterbury- Mr. Eugene Francis Coyle, 79, died Thursday, May 17, at the Cheshire House in Waterbury.
Mr. Coyle was born November 15, 1932 in Scranton, PA son of the late Bernard and Mary (Reardon) Coyle. He was raised on Washington Hill and was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Grammar School and Leavenworth High School. He had served honorably and proudly in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955 and continued in the naval reserves until 1959. Upon discharge from active naval duty he returned to Waterbury and served his community as a Police Officer from 1956 to 1966. He served a short duty with the Connecticut State Police but returned to the Waterbury Police Department four months later. He retired in 1978 as a Detective in the vice squad.
He is survived by his three children, Kevin W. Coyle and his wife Ginny of Kalispell, Montana, Eugene M. Coyle and his wife Janet of Woodbury and Chris-Ellen LaVallee and her husband Arthur of Waterbury; twelve grandchildren; one great grandson and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Brian K. Coyle.
Arrangements: A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, May 23, at 9:30 A.M. at St. Francis Xavier Church. There are no calling hours. Burial services and honors will be conducted by the United States Navy at sea.
