Mr. Francis M. Fahy Sr.


WATERBURY — Francis M. Fahy, 87, died Friday, March 14, 2008. He was the Beloved husband of sixty years to Monica (Delaney) Fahy and was the retired Owner of M.J. Fahy & Sons Plumbing and Heating.
Mr. Fahy was born March 19, 1920, in Waterbury, to the late John and Estelle (Miller) Fahy. Francis graduated from Wilby High School in 1939. He played football while in High School and earned a scholarship to attend  St. Bonaventure University. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served thirty-five missions as a Bombardier Gunman on B-17's and B-29's during the WWII era. In the early days he played baseball for the City Amateur League, football, he bowled with the Elks Played golf for many years, and also taught Plumbing and Heating at night for the Adult Education at W.F. Kaynor State Technical. He most recently was a member of the American Legion of Waterbury, Knights of Columbus, the Elks and the Waterbury Country Club. He was past president of the Exchange Club and the Olympian Club. Fran was a member of SS Peter& Paul Church.
Besides his wife Monica, he is survived by two sons; Richard Fahy of Waterbury, Francis Fahy Jr. of Woodbury, Three daughters, Kathleen Fahy of Waterbury, Nancy Ongley and Maureen Meier both of Madison, one sister Patricia Daniels of Waterbury, six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a brother John Fahy Jr. and two sisters, Lillian Viola, and Marjorie Pierce.      Arrangements:  Funeral will be Wednesday at 9:15 A.M. from the funeral home to arrive at SS Peter & Paul Church for Mass at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be announced. Calling hours will be Tuesday, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Bergin Funeral Home, 290 E. Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06702.  In lieu of flowers Memorial donations may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church, 74 West Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06702.
