Obituary
Wolcott- Mr. Francis G. "Frank" Fitzgerald, 89, died Thursday morning at his home. He was the husband of Kathleen (Burns) Fitzgerald.
Mr. Fitzgerald was born January 13, 1919 in Waterbury son of the late Francis J. and Margaret (Byrnes) Fitzgerald. Raised in Waterbury he was a graduate of St. Mary's Grammar School and Crosby High School class of 1936. He pursued his technical education and apprenticed at Scovill manufacturing and became a tool and dye maker. He had served honorably in the United States Army during WWII, serving in Paris, France and parts of Germany. After the war he worked as a tool and dye maker and furthered his education by receiving a degree in engineering. There after for the rest of his life he worked as a manufacturing engineer for Pratt and Whitney and Timex, retiring from Timex.
He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Sheridan Council in Waterbury, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Monsignor Slocum Division 1 of Waterbury and the Mill Plain Retirees. He loved to travel, read and spend time with his granddaughter.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, David J. Fitzgerald and his wife Marlane of Waterbury and one granddaughter, Juliana. He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Fitzgerald McGovern.
