Obituary
Shelton – Mr. George E. Dowling, 57, died on Tuesday, August 2, at Yale New Haven Hospital.
George was born in Waterbury on January 24, 1959, son of John J. Dowling of Shelton and the late Jane (Holmes) Dowling. Raised in the Huntington section of Shelton, George was a graduate of Mohegan Grammar School and St. Joseph's High School in Trumbull. He received his BA in Economics and an MBA from the University of Hartford. He had been employed with Hartley and Parker Limited for many years.
George will be remembered as a devout Catholic and proud of his Irish heritage. He enjoyed history, traveling, reading hiking and fishing.
In addition to his father, John J. Dowling, George is survived by two brothers, John H. Dowling and his wife Lisa of Southbury and Mark J. Dowling and his wife Susan of Newtown; his nieces and nephews, Christian and Meghan Dowling and Caitlin, Mark and Sarah Dowling and many aunts, uncles and cousins
Arrangements: Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 5, from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. in Waterbury. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 6, at 9:15 A. M. from the funeral home to St. John of the Cross Church in Middlebury for Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury.
