Obituary
Waterbury- Mr. Gilbert Aviles, Jr, 50, died Thursday morning, July 8, at his home with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Lydia (Concepcion) Aviles.
Mr. Aviles was born June 1, 1960 in Waterbury son of Gilberto Aviles, Sr of Bartow, FL and the late Mercedes (Flores) Aviles. For many years Gilbert enjoyed the job he always wanted as a bus driver for the City of Waterbury and was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 677. He was a car enthusiast and an avid collector of die cast model cars and loved antiques, but above all else was his love for his family. He was a member of the Bi-Lingual Church Shekina of Waterbury.
In addition to his wife and father he is survived by one son, Brandon Aviles of Waterbury; three daughters, Natalie Aviles, Erika Aviles and Shaelin Aviles all of Waterbury; one step-son, Emanuel Ruiz of Waterbury; one step-daughter, Kiana M. Diaz of Waterbury; three brothers, Angel Cruz of Waterbury, Elac Aviles and his wife Jacqueline of Waterbury and Robert Aviles and his wife Kelly of Waterbury; one grandson, Fabian and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 10, at 11:00 A.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
