Gilberto Ortiz Aviles March 16, 1938 – August 3, 2022

Gilberto Aviles formerly of Waterbury, Conn., died August 3, 2022, at the Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center in Lakeland, Florida. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years Mercedes Flores Aviles.

Mr. Aviles was born on March 16, 1938, in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, son of the late Manuel and Julia (Ortiz) Aviles. He worked in public transportation as well as Appliance sales and repairs. He was a former member of Sacred Heart- Sagrado Corazon Church. Gilberto and his wife moved to Bartow, Florida in January of 2009.

He is survived by Angelo Cruz, Elac Aviles, Robert Aviles, his granddaughter and caregiver Natalie Aviles, 8 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son Gilberto Aviles Jr.

Gilberto Aviles enjoyed attending church, listening to music, dancing, playing the guitar and joining his friends and family in many games of Dominoes.
