Waterbury- Mr. Gilberto Quiroz, 80, died Tuesday morning, August 21, at the Hartford Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Alba (Feliciano) Quiroz.
Mr. Quiroz was born February 9, 1932 in Yauco, Puerto Rico, son of the late Gilberto and Virginia (Pieretti) Quiroz. He started work at a very young age in the sugar cane fields of Puerto Rico, eventually moving to Buffalo, NY and then coming to Waterbury, where he worked for and retired from Scovill Manufacturing. He was an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Waterbury West Spanish. Gilberto will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather, as a man who gave much to many and found great joy in helping those in need. He was loved by all and will be missed dearly.
In addition to his wife of 54 years he is survived by two daughters, Marivel Gonzalez and her husband Victoriano of Pinellas Park, FL and Lucy Gonzalez and her husband Ramon of Waterbury; one brother, Anibal Caraballo of Waterbury; one sister, Paula Caraballo of Waterbury; two grandchildren, Alexander and Haley Gonzalez; two step grandchildren, Jocelyn and Luz Gonzalez and his nieces and nephews, Maria Nelly, Evelyn, Gladys, Mildred, Irma, Janet, Jaime, Ricardo, Miriam, Nancy, Anibal and Jose Caraballo.
Arrangements: Calling hours are Friday, August 24, from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury. Family and friends will gather Saturday morning at 9:00 A.M. at the funeral home to leave in procession at 10:00 A.M. for All Saints Cemetery.
