Obituary

Watertown – Hans Gunther "Duke" Hasemann, Jr, 58, passed away on Sunday, August 11, at Vitas Inpatient Hospice at St. Mary's Hospital with his family by his side. Hans was born August 17,1965 in Waterbury, son of Joanne (Carey) Hasemann of Waterbury and the late Hans Gunther Hasemann, Sr. Raised in Watertown Hans attended local schools and was a graduate of Watertown High School, class of 1983. Hans was a hard worker his whole life, he started working at Gunther's restaurant, eventually moved to working at UPS, Summit Corporation and at The Siemon Company alongside his son Peter. Anyone who knew Hans was immediately impacted by him. He was a big kind loving man whom people seem to gravitate towards due to his charismatic personality and witty sense of humor. He loved his children more than anything, anyone who ever talked to him will tell you that's the one thing he never stopped talking about and how proud he was of them. He also enjoyed being with his friends of which there were so many. If you were around Hans on a day or night out you were surely to remember some of the great stories. On top of having fun he also knew how to work hard, he loved and took great pride in his home and his car making sure the property and vehicle were spot clean always and he has instilled those values in his children. Hans will be missed dearly by so many people but he will never be forgotten and his memory lives on in anyone who knew him as a friend, father or family member. In addition to his mother Hans is survived by two sons, Peter J. Hasemann of Watertown and Erich J. Hasemann of West Hartford; one daughter, Emma M. Hasemann of Bristol; two sisters, Maria Von Werder and her husband Jeff of Waterbury and Tammy Hasemann of New York; his close friends, Mike Simpson, Tom Vailionis, Ray Giordano, Mark Shedrawy, and Ken Demirs and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Hans was predeceased by his brother, Stanley Nabozny and sister, Sandra Baumeister.
