Waterbury- Mrs. Helen (Nirka) Gladu, 63, died Saturday evening, April 2, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Richard Gladu.
Helen was born February 24, 1948 in Waterbury daughter of the late Phillip and Mary (Snowden) Nirka. She had worked as an aide at the New Britain General Hospital. Helen and her husband Richard had moved around the country for many years and she had worked at Chicago Meats and Steakland. She enjoyed bird watching and feeding the squirrels.
In addition to her husband she is survived by two brothers, Neil Nirka of Waterbury and John Nirka of Naples, FL; four sisters, Irene Yarosh, Mary Ann Margison, Margaret Worden and Jane Simaitis all of Waterbury and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Christine Bennett.
Arrangements: Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 9, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main Street, Waterbury. Burial will be private.
