Obituary

Bristol- Mr. Henry J. "Hank" Santos, Jr, 50, formerly of Waterbury, entered heavens gates shortly after an unforgettable time of praise and worship, surrounded by his family at the Apple Rehabilitation Center of Farmington Valley in Plainville after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Nancy (Owens) Santos.

Hank was born April 15, 1962 in Waterbury son of the late Henry J. and Rose (Tavares) Santos, Sr. Raised in Waterbury he was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, class of 1980. He attended Mattatuck Community College and the Computer Processing Institute. He had been employed as a commissions analyst with Futurity First and then worked with special needs children at Oak Hill. He was a member of the New Life Fellowship Church in Plainville.

Hank loved basketball and was involved in coaching for over twenty years. He was an assistant coach at Mattatuck Community College and took two teams to the nationals, finishing 7th and 9th. He also coached at Wilby High School and was a coach with the freshman team that went undefeated, 24 and 0. He was also very active in coaching with AAU, summer programs throughout the area and the Ed Beardsley Challenger Discovery Basketball Program in Bristol and was an original director of Hillside's Upward Basketball Program of Bristol.

In addition to his beloved wife he is survived by his two sons, Eric J. Santos and Kyle T. Santos both of Bristol; his sister, Dona Santos of Waterbury and many nieces and nephews including Qiana Garcia and Brandon Garcia and their children and many cousins and numerous other relatives.

Arrangements: A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 30, at 6:00 P.M. at the Hillside Community Church 435 Broad St. Bristol, CT 06010. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 29, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury.
