Obituary

Waterbury- Mr. Henry Alfred Schuster passed away on Monday, July 7 at his home.

Mr. Schuster was born in Waterbury to Henry A. and Irene (McClellan) Schuster on September 28, 1929. He attended Anderson Grammar School and then Crosby High School where he was an honor student and a star athlete in football. He also attended SS Peter and Paul Church where he was active in the CYO.

Upon graduating from Crosby he received a scholarship and attended Cheshire Academy and later the University of Connecticut where he was accepted as a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. After graduating from Officers Candidate School he entered the U.S. Army where he served during the Korean War as a heavy artillery officer. Coming home from the war, Henry did further studies and graduated from Butler University in Indianapolis where he met and married Joann James and had one son, Paul.

He worked in the Midwest, returning to the East Coast for the rest of his professional career. Retiring early, he returned to Waterbury to help in caring for his parents, taught school and worked in a government funded program for the City of Waterbury. Henry, was a person of exceptional intelligence, and was an avid reader who spent many hours studying both fiction and science. He also hade a lifelong passion for sports, with skiing being one of his favorites which he pursued in New England, Canada and Switzerland.

He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his son, Paul K. Schuster of Indianapolis, IN; one brother, Donald McClellan Schuster of Dallas, TX; his cousin-in-law Lelia Jane Schuster of Waterbury and many other family members and friends.

Arrangements: A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 15 at 3:00 P.M. at the New Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterbury. There are no calling hours.
