Waterbury – Mr. Howard D. Woods, 93, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 6, 2017. He was the husband of Mrs. Jane (Murphree) Woods.

Howard was born on June 3, 1923 in Liberty, Alabama, son of the late John and Nellie (Nelson) Woods. He served honorably and proudly in the United States Army during WWII and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands. Howard was a Master Mason at Harmony Lodge 42 and a Shriner at the Sphinx Temple in Newington.

Besides his wife Jane, Howard is survived by four sons, Donald Woods and his wife Dawn of Meriden, Gary Woods and his wife Mary, Jeffrey Woods and his wife Eileen, and Allan Woods and his wife Cara, all of Waterbury; step daughters, Cindy Hendon, and Candy Hansell and her husband Billy, eight grandchildren, David Woods and his wife Sara, T.J. Woods, Jason Giuliani, Daniel Woods and his wife Amanda, Marybeth Woods, Rebecca Lerner, Domenic Woods, and Zachary Lerner; and one great-grandson, Silas Woods.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary (Gugliotti) Woods in 1988.

Funeral services will be held privately.
