Mr. James J. Burnes

DEEP RIVER – James J. Burnes, 64, died after a courageous battle with cancer, Monday, February 16, 2009 at MiddlesexHospital while surrounded by his family.
Mr. Burnes was born in Bridgeport, November 11, 1944 to the late William Vincent and Elizabeth Marie (Copeland) Burnes. He was raised in Southbury and graduate of SouthburyHigh School, Class of 1962. He was a four year Navy Veteran and began a career as a product designer and worked in many areas of Connecticut. In the 1970's he was employed by Coleco in Hartford, the 80's Clairol of Stamford, the 1990's brought him to Norelco in Old Saybrook and he was last employed by Infiltrator Systems of Old Saybrook then retired on disability. He played the guitar in his earlier years as well as enjoyed fishing and spent much of his time drawing. Most recently he liked the trips to the casino.
He is survived by two sons; Brian M. Burnes and his wife Jill of Bristol, James R. Burnes of Burlington, VT, a daughter, Catherine Burnes of Waterbury, a brother William Burnes and his wife Donna of Waterbury, four nieces and 3 nephews. Arrangements: A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M at the Bergin Funeral Home, 290 East Main StreetWaterbury. Calling hours will be held Thursday at 9:30 A.M. till the time of service. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. In lieu of flowers Memorial donations may be made to: Middlesex Weiss Hospice Unit, 28 Crescent St. Middletown, CT 06457.
