Waterbury- Mr. James Edward Riddick, Jr., 79 passed away at his home after a brief illness on Tuesday, February 1, 2011.
Mr. Riddick was born April 23, 1931 in Gates, NC, son of the late James Edward and Charlie Mae (Harvey) Riddick, Sr. He was educated in the North Carolina public school system and was a graduate of T.S. Cooper High School in Sunbury NC. He had been employed at the Scovill Manufacturing Co. and Century Brass for many years. He was also one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Hoffler) Riddick of Virginia Beach, VA; a daughter, Sharon Kay Riddick of Virginia Beach, VA; two sons, Vincent Alphears Riddick of Virginia Beach, VA and James Edward Riddick, III of Waterbury; two grandchildren, Alyssa Francis Riddick of Virginia Beach, VA and Jermaine Taplin of Waterbury; six sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Eure, Mrs. Geneva Knight, Mrs. Mary Ella Boyed, Mrs. Jearlene Cross, Ms Dorothy Riddick all of Gates, NC and Mrs. Marjorie Riddick of Gatesville, NC; three brothers, Ralph, Rufus and John Riddick all of Gates, NC and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Ms. Willie Eure and a brother, Harry Riddick.
Arrangements: A memorial talk will be held on Monday, February 7, at 11:00 A.M. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses 2670 North Main St. Waterbury. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the Kingdom Hall. The Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury has care of the arrangements.
