Waterbury- Mr. James H. Simpson, Sr., 87, died Thursday morning, January 29 at his home. He was the husband of Rose (Monti) Simpson.
Mr. Simpson was born September 6, 1921 in Thomaston son of the late Frank and Pearl (Tyrill) Simpson. Raised in Thomaston he attended local schools and had served honorably in the United States Army, he was a retired truck driver and a member of the American Legion Post #165 in Wolcott.
In addition to his wife he is survived by ten sons, James A. Simpson of FL, James H. Simpson, Jr. of Waterbury, Charles Simpson of Wolcott, Donald Simpson, Joseph Simpson, Lester Simpson, Theodore Simpson, Michael Simpson, Richard Simpson all of Waterbury and David Simpson of Thomaston; three daughters, Mary Anne Poulin of Old Saybrook, Nancy LeMay of New Britain and Antoinette DiNicola of Waterbury; one sister, Jane McCormack of Waterbury; 35 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Michael DiNicola and a granddaughter, Sherri Poulin.
Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 31 at 9:15 A.M. from the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for mass of Christian burial at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be in the spring in the Hillside Cemetery, Thomaston. Calling hours are this afternoon (Friday) from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
