Huntington- Mrs. Jane (Holmes) Dowling, 82, formerly of Waterbury, died Thursday evening, April 22, at St. Joseph's Manor in Trumbull. She was the wife of John J. Dowling.
She was born October 23, 1927 in Waterbury daughter of the late George and Julia (Riley) Holmes. Raised in Waterbury she was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Grammar School, Crosby High School and the St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing. Jane began her career as a registered nurse at the St. Mary's Hospital, then went into private duty nursing, then went to work as a registered nurse at the Scovill Manufacturing Co. and eventually worked part time at St. Joseph's manor in Trumbull.
In addition to her husband she is survived by three sons, John H. Dowling and his wife Lisa of Southbury, George E. Dowling of Huntington and mark J. Dowling and his wife Susan of Newtown and five grandchildren, Christian, Megan, Caitlin, Mark and Sarah.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Joseph's manor for the care Jane received while a resident.
Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 1, at 8:30 A.M. from the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury to St. Francis Xavier Church for mass of Christian burial at 9:30 A.M.
