Cheshire – Mrs. Janet G. (Larson) Ollero, died Sunday, August 23, at Vitas Hospice Innovative Care at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the longtime companion of the late Dwight F. Steisel.
Janet was born June 10, 1937 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Alvar K. and Mae (Mahoney) Larson. Raised in Cheshire she attended local schools and was a graduate of Cheshire High School class of 1956. She was the former owner of Slimmette Fitness Center in Waterbury for over twenty years. She eventually sold the fitness center to the European Health Center and stayed on as manager. In 1985, with her companion and partner Dwight, they opened Creative Furniture in Waterbury until retiring in 2000.
She is survived by two sons, Dr. Glenn Goulet and his husband Allen J. Forrester of Bethlehem and Lenny Ollero, Jr and his partner Pam Cipriano of Thomaston; five grandchildren, Cortney Goulet Larkins and her husband Charles of North Branford, Cole Goulet of Deerfield Beach, FL, Cadah Goulet Hague and her husband Christopher of Northford, Elizabeth Ollero and Emily Ollero both of Thomaston and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her partner Dwight, she was predeceased by her daughter, Sandra Jean Goulet, husband, Leonard J. Ollero, Sr, her sisters, Ingrid Larson Spezzano and Dorothy Larson Dunn and brother, Jack Larson.
Arrangements: Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 26, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St., Waterbury. Burial will be private.
