Waterbury- Jeanette "Gigi" Silva, 29, died Tuesday, January 5 at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Jamie St. Pierre.
Jeanette was born April 23, 1980 in Waterbury daughter of Michael A. Silva of Waterbury and Margarita (Rivera) Segarra of Waterbury. Raised in Waterbury she attended local schools and attended Kaynor Technical High School before enrolling in the Adult Education Program. She had worked as a CNA at all About You in Cheshire. She had attended the First Assembly of God Church.
Gigi enjoyed music and her time spent with her children, family and life long friends. She cared about and gave generously, with a heart of compassion, and shared her faith with others.
In addition to her husband and parents she is survived by three sons, Javier Martinez, Jonathan Martinez and Jared Martinez all of Waterbury; one daughter, Gianna Silva of Waterbury; her step-father "Dad", Israel Segarra of Waterbury; one step-brother, Wilfredo Segarra of Waterbury; one step-sister, Veronica Segarra of Waterbury; her paternal grandmother, Anna Marie Silva of Watertown; her maternal grandparents, Luz Vasquez and Wenceslao Rivera both of Waterbury; her paternal great grandmother Mary Lopes of Waterbury; her step-grandmother, Alicia Segarra of Waterbury and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a step-brother, Israel Segarra, Jr.
Gigi and her family would like to thank all the people who attended her benefit arranged by the First Assembly of God Church and the Waterbury PAL. The family would also like to thank the Doctors, staff and nurses of the Southbury Oncology Center and the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center.
Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 9, at 10:00 A.M. at the First Assembly of God, 1245 Thomaston Ave. Waterbury. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery.
