Middlebury- Joan Worgan Tracy, 93 of Middlebury CT., passed peacefully, in her home, surrounded by her family Saturday April 29, 2023.

Born in Waterbury CT., March 28,1930.  Joan (Noanie) was the daughter of the late Mr. George Worgan from Wales and Joan's mother, Margaret Mullhall was from Ireland.  Margaret was a homemaker for their seven children residing at 333 Breakneck Hill, Middlebury CT.

The Worgan's were a close and warm family.  Joan had four sisters; Rosemary, Marguerite, Elizabeth, Theresa and two brothers George and John.

Joan was a spirited woman.  She graduated from Waterbury Catholic High School where she was voted Class Wit out of 149 students!  She continued with her spirited energy to work for Scovill Mfg where she worked varies positions and eventually becoming an executive secretary to the assistant Vice President.

On Joan's 18th birthday, a handsome man named George Hobson Tracy Jr. from Waterbury CT., called on her and asked Joan "to celebrate the day." He was my first kiss and last since October 1959.  Her best friend, a loving husband passed peacefully by her side in 2019 after 71 years together.

Joan is sadly missed by her four children; Alan, Susan, Lynn, and Margaret. Joan loved dearly her seven grandchildren; Jessica, Ryan, Katie, Ashlyn, Spencer, Stuart, and Kelly. Joan's eyes would brighten when her six great grandchildren would visit; Caylor, Wyatt, Sawyer, Layton, Amelia, and August.

Joan's energy, positive humor, and interests in all that life and the town of Middlebury offered she participated in.  Joan was President of The Roaring Twenty Bowling League for thirty years.  She participated in the Middlebury Minstrel plays.  Her favorite was when she played Mini Pearl.  While raising her four children, enjoyed family vacations in New Hampshire, fishing, creating her famous St. Patrick's day pattern to knit George a holiday sweater! Which is warmly worn today.

Joan's passion and interest did not stop there.  Her enthusiasm for Hockey, the Patriots, UConn basketball, and above all else the Boston Red Sox. The baseball commission knows Joan very well.  I think the whole family, the many nieces, nephews and friends would agree that Jeopardy trumps all.  The nightly questions were the family's favorite.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 3, at 11:00 A.M. at Lake Elise Cemetery in Middlebury.
