Obituary
Joan (Howard) Trudeau - 66, of Wilkenda Ave., died Friday August 28, 2009.
Ms. Trudeau was born November 19, 1942, in Binghamton, NY, to the late Samuel and Helena (O'Brien) Howard. She graduated High School in Vestal, NY and went on to further her education at Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana where her major was Physical Education. In earlier years she was very involved in Campfire and was a director of Camp Shu-Ta-Win in Danbury. In summer months, she would greet hundreds of children as they arrived at the camp. For many years she camped with her own family and children. Joan worked for Denny's in Southington as a Manager for twenty years before having to retire. While she was there, Joan had started a fund raiser to aid with relief of Hurricane Katrina, she received an award for her efforts and fundraising goal. Joan was very much into watching the UCONN Basketball games, loving both the men and women teams. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Waterbury, and above all, Joan really loved going to the park with her grandchildren and spending time with family.
She is survived by a son Matthew Trudeau of Virginia, currently stationed in Afghanistan, three daughters, Christine Perkins of Tolland, Lorraine Trudeau of Waterbury, Danielle Baker of Arizona, two brothers, James Howard of NY, William Howard of Florida, a sister Eileen Cameron of Virginia, eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements: A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, September 1, directly at St. Francis Xavier Church at 11:00 A.M. The place of committal will be announced. Calling hours will be held Monday from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home, 290 E. Main Street, Waterbury.
