Obituary

Joan T. Worgan, 'Mom, Nana Worgan, Friend' passed away peacefully on Monday, November 24, in Delray Beach, Florida surrounded by her family.
She was born on April 12, 1938 in Waterbury, Connecticut to Joseph and Ethel Teller where she cherished her childhood on Oak Street.
She attended Woodrow Wilson Middle School and Wilby High School in Waterbury and enjoyed maintaining those lifelong friendships.
Joan began working at Northeast Utilities after graduation where she met her late husband, Jack Worgan.  Joan resided in Middlebury with Jack and their three children, Jack, Brian and Judi.
She was an avid UConn men's basketball fan and loved watching her children and grandchildren participating in Middlebury sports.  She was very creative, often writing comical poems that celebrated milestones of family and friends.
Joan was a parishioner at St. John of the Cross Church in Middlebury and St. Vincent Ferrer in Delray Beach, Florida. She was a member of the Hibernians and volunteered at Safe Haven in Waterbury.
Joan is survived by her son, John F.  Worgan (Jack) and his wife Maura of Middlebury, her son Brian J. Worgan of Delray Beach, Florida, her daughter Judi (Worgan) Bene and her husband Jim of Tampa, Florida as well as her brother,  John Teller of Dunnellon, Florida.
Nana Worgan is survived by 5 grandchildren, Christopher John Worgan and Colleen Mary Worgan of Middlebury; Jamison John Bene, Jess Robert Bene and Jacqueline Carys Bene of Tampa, Florida.
Her children and grandchildren will forever cherish the children's book Nana authored and dedicated to them, 'Charlie the Rooster'.
Arrangements: Calling hour will be held on Wednesday, December 3, from 9:30 A.M. to 10:45 A.M.
at the Bergin Funeral Home, 290 East Main Street, Waterbury.  A Mass of Christian burial will follow at
11:30 A.M. at St. John of the Cross Church in Middlebury. Burial will immediately follow at the Middlebury Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Joan's name to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105-3678
