Obituary
Joanna Marie McCarthy, 26, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016. She was the beloved daughter of Kevin and Sandra (Martinez) McCarthy.
Joanna was born on January 7, 1990, in Waterbury. She graduated from Kaynor in 2008, where she was enrolled in the Culinary Dept.; and graduated from CCSU in 2012. Joanna was an employee of the City of Waterbury at State Street School, where she adored the students and they were very fond of "Miss JoJo." She was also an employee of the City of New Britain at the Parks and Recreation Department. Joanna was a beautiful young woman who loved to write poetry. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Joanna is survived by her parents, Kevin and Sandra McCarthy, of Waterbury; her girlfriend, Yarelie Bonilla, and Yarelie's son, Julian David; her cat, Buddy; and numerous aunts; uncles; and cousins.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, August 2, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bergin Funeral Home, 290 East Main Street, Waterbury. A funeral home service will be held Wednesday, August 3 at 11 a.m. Friends and family are asked to arrive at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury.
