Obituary
Waterbury – Mr. John C. Slavin, Sr, 71, died Thursday morning, March 21, at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Joann A. (Sequenzia) Slavin.
Mr. Slavin was born November 29, 1941 in Waterbury, son of the late James D. and Katherine (Charters) Slavin, Sr. A lifelong resident of Waterbury. He was a graduate of Crosby High School class of 1960 and earned his Bachelor's degree at Fairfield University, class of 1964. He enjoyed a long career, working in advertising and insurance. In his later years he enjoyed woodworking and writing.
He was a lifetime member of the Waterbury Lodge of Elks #265, was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church.
In addition to his wife of 49 years, John is survived by one daughter, Margaret Ann Slavin of Long Beach, CA; two sons, John C. Slavin, Jr and his wife Susan of Southbury and Michael W. Slavin and his wife Jennifer of Prospect; one brother, Dr. James D. Slavin of West Hartford; two sisters, Maureen Warner and Carol Maloney, both of Waterbury; six grandchildren, John, Zachary, Joanna, Emma, Maris and Colin and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements: A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, March 23, at 11:00 A.M. at Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will be private. Arrangements are in the care of the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury.
