Waterbury- Mr. Joseph P. "Joe" Ketrys died peacefully at Waterbury Hospital on Wednesday, August 6. He was the loving husband of Joan (Kleiman) Ketrys.
Joe was born in Plymouth, PA son of the late Joseph and Augustina (Strey) Ketrys. He spent most of his childhood years in Naugatuck prior to moving to Waterbury. He was a graduate of Charter Oak State College and served honorably in the United States Army. He worked in the engineering Dept. of Timex for years. Joe received several sales awards for outstanding sales achievements while employed at Electroterm. He was the founder and president of The Archer Company prior to the onset of his illness.
Joe was the successful recipient of a Kidney transplant in 1982 and an avid supporter of the Kidney Foundation. He was an enthusiastic Red Sox fan and a member of M.E.O.W. He loved gardening, fishing, traveling and most of all spending time with his loving wife Joan, his cats and many close friends. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Loreto Church.
In addition to his devoted wife who remained by his side until his final day, Joe leaves a sister-in-law, Barbara Ketrys of Watertown, two nieces, Laurie Calabrese and her husband Anthony of Middlebury, Dawn Cabral and her husband Dean of Watertown, two great nephews, Jonathan Calabrese and Justin Cabral and several close friends. He was predeceased by a brother Frank T. Ketrys.
Arrangements: Friends may visit at Joe's residence on Saturday, August 16 between 2:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. A memorial mass will be held at the convenience of the family.
