Waterbury-Joseph W. Smith, 62, of Hitchcock Rd., passed away Saturday September 26, at the VA Hospital in West Haven with his loving family by his side, after a brief illness. Joe was born in Waterbury, September 13, 1947 son of the late Edward J.  and Martha (Hartigan) Smith. He was a graduate from Crosby High School and CCSU. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970. He worked for the Institute in Bridgeport then at Myers Supply until a little over a year ago. He was an avid reader and enjoyed playing tennis and golf. Joe loved his family and really enjoyed time spent with them.
Joe is survived by two sisters, Donna Baribault and her husband Roger of Prospect, Patricia Smith of Maryland, a nephew Seth Wolak of Maryland, three nieces, Michele Baribault of Prospect, Brenda Ferland of Naugatuck Keara Wolak of Maryland, two great nieces, Faith Albino, Autumn Strachen of Prospect a great-great niece, Runiyah Albino Wethersby of Prospect. He was predeceased by a nephew John R. Baribault.     Arrangements:  Calling hours will be held today at Bergin Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. A mass will be held at SS Peter and Paul Church Wednesday, at 10:30 A.M.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
