Waterbury- Mr. Juan G. Ramos, 69, of 2 North Main St., formerly of Hammond, IN, passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 27, at Abbott Terrace Health Care Center.
Juan better known to family and friends as Richard, was born on March 31, 1940 in Penuelas, Puerto Rico, the beloved son of the late Guillermo and Juana Plana-Rodriguez Ramos.
Richard was an avid sports fan, but his passion was being a true diehard fan of the New York Yankees. Many will remember him as "coach", when he not only played the game of baseball, but also taught it to young players. He enjoyed reading, cooking and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by his three surviving children, Jeannette Ramos, Ricardo Ramos and Elaine Ramos and her husband Anibal Sanchez, Jr. all of Waterbury; the mother of his children, Carmen Machado of Fajardo, Puerto Rico; four grandchildren, Adrian Sanchez, Christina Carrasquillo, Jorgey Carrasquillo and Ricardo Ramos, Jr; one great granddaughter, Trinity "Emma" Sanchez all of Waterbury; one brother, Hector Luis Ramos of Waterbury; one sister, Guillermina "Gigie" Rodriguez and her husband Oscar of Brooklyn, NY and many nieces and nephews in Waterbury and Hammond, IN.
The family would like to give a very special thank you to the staff members of Abbott Terrace Health Center, St. Mary's Hospital and especially to VNA Healthcare Services for all their kind caring of our dearly departed father.
Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 30, at 9:15 A.M. from the Bergin Funeral 290 East Main St. to Sacred Heart Sagrado Corazon Church for mass at 10:00 A.M.
