Obituary

WATERBURY — Mrs. Leonilda Munoz, 79, of Raymond Street, died Thursday, October 7, 2010, at her home.

Mrs. Munoz was born January 15, 1931, in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Juan C. and Ramona (Rodriguez) Irizarry. Leonilda was a member of Sacred Heart, Sagrado Corazon Church. The last place she had been employed was at the former Mattatuck Manufacturing Co. working in the assembly division. She loved to play bingo and visit the casino. She had a passion for cooking and will be remembered by all as she made the best coffee.
Leonilda is survived by two sons, Jose Olivara and his wife Elizabeth of Florida, Luis Munoz of Waterbury, two daughters, Sonya Vasquez of Waterbury and Carmen Nelson and her husband Charlie and their children Maritza and Amelia, three brothers, Domingo Irizarry of Waterbury, Benjamin Alicea of Puerto Rico, Juan Alicea of Waterbury, four sisters, Carmen Iris Irizarry of Puerto Rico, Carmen Alguri of Puerto Rico, Flor Alicea of Puerto Rico, Virgenmina Pratts of Florida, eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother William Irizarry and a sister Maria D. Rodriguez.

Arrangements: A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, October 11, at 10:00 A.M. at Scared Heart Sagrado Corazon Church, Waterbury. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held on Sunday, October 10, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home, 290 East Main Street.
