Linda Lee Yanavich, Beloved Mother, Grandmother & Friend
Linda Lee Yanavich, age 71, of Waterbury, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, December 16, surrounded by her loving family who adored her. She was born February 19, 1954, and was the daughter of the late Vaughndelee DiZinno and Earl Williams.
Linda is survived by her children, Brandi Rogers and son-in-law Kevin, Kristen Johanneman and son-in-law Chad, Joseph Flaherty and daughter-in-law Jessica, stepdaughter Vicki Rose and son-in-law Evan. She was the proud and devoted grandmother of Alexandra Rogers, Samantha Rogers, Jubilee Johanneman, Joshua Johanneman, Faith Johanneman, Zara Rose, and Lalaina Rose. She is also survived by her siblings, Vaughndelee Chabot (John), Lori Weiss (Gene), Earl Williams (Abigail), and Robert DiZinno (Lisa), along with many other cherished family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Linda was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Truly one of a kind, she had a heart of pure gold, the mouth of a trucker, and a zest for life that was unmatched. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren, children, and family, whom she cherished beyond measure and loved with all of her heart. They returned that love in full.
Though Linda's passing leaves an immeasurable void, she taught those she loved how to care for one another through grief – because as she believed, love is all you need. A lifelong waitress, Linda found joy in the connections she made with friends, co-workers, and customers. No one stayed a stranger for long; meeting Linda meant becoming family. The moment a person met Linda, they loved her, as it was impossible not to.
Linda was the neighborhood's giver of candy to all children, a friend to every neighbor, and someone you could always count on to greet you with a smile, and a cup of half-and-half, (with a splash of Maxwell House coffee). Linda's home was famously decorated for every holiday, with Christmas, her favorite, done in monumental style. She was also a devoted lover of the daily crossword puzzle and Yahtzee, and much to everyone's amazement (and occasional frustration), she seemed to win far more often than chance would allow. Linda will be remembered for her infectious laugh, her radiant smile, her love of life, and the joy she spread so freely. And in true Linda fashion, she would want everyone to have a sparkling day!
Linda's family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Michael Grant, nurse Alicia, and the entire staff at the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center for the exceptional care, kindness, and friendship they provided to Linda. Special thanks are also given to her aide, Yraset, whose patience, humor, and gentle care provided comfort and dignity in Linda's final months.
At Linda's request, a private service will be held to honor her life. Her family thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers and extends their appreciation to Bergin Funeral Home for their compassionate care during this difficult time.
