Waterbury – Luz M. Ramirez, 93, passed away on Saturday morning, October 29, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Luz was born December 8, 1928 in Humacao, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Jesus Vazquez and Maria Josefa Ramirez. She is survived by her daughters, Alicia Rivera and Luz Sorocka; her grandchildren, including, Carlos Iglesias, whom she raised, Jessica Arroyo, Melissa Mora, DJ Hernandez, Tania Delgado and David Retamar; great-grandchildren, Damaris Alvarez, Angel Carmona, Alyssa Carmona, Syleste Arroyo, Sierra Arroyo, Carlos E. Iglesias, Joshua Batista and Victoria Iglesias; and many great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was loved dearly by her brothers and sisters. She was predeceased by her daughter, Damaris Mora and son, Santos Rivera, Jr. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 4, at 11:00 A.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury. Friends may visit with Luz's family from 10:00 A.M. until time of service. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery.
