Waterbury – Manuel "Manny" "Pitirre" Gomez, age 59 of Waterbury met his heavenly creator on June 15, 2015. He passed away unexpectedly at St Mary's Hospital surrounded by family. He was the devoted husband of Norma Gomez.
Manny born on Oct. 23, 1955 In Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, was the son of the late Juan Gomez and the late Francisca Gomez. He grew up primarily in Waterbury and lived in Puerto Rico for approximately 4 years during his childhood.
He spent a short time in the army, worked many years for the City of Waterbury's Refuse Department, later as a truck driver, and was retired at the time of his death.
Manny was known for his unconditional love for his family, infectious laugh, beautiful singing voice, and his passion for salsa music and dance.
He was married to his lovely wife, "Normita" for 40 years and leaves behind 3 daughters: Anjelica Crespo of Waterbury, CT, Melissa Gomez of Cheshire, CT, Naomi Gomez of Jacksonville, FL, and son-in-law, Eddie Crespo. He also leaves 6 grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Aurianna Gomez, Surgeo Gomez, Noah Crespo, Hope Gomez, Gabriella Gomez, and Melody Crespo. He was also survived by his sister Aida Cruz of Griffith, IN, nieces and nephews, Lucy Colon, Frances Pacheco, Herminia Casas, Carlos Casas and 37 additional nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings: Pablo Gomez, William Gomez, Sonia Torres, and nephew Esteban Ocasio.
Manny will be forever missed and adored. We want to thank everyone who loved him and made him smile. He loved you all!
Calling hours will be Friday June 19 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home, 290 E. Main St., Waterbury. A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 20 at 10am at Sacred Heart - Sagrado Corazon, 13 Wolcott St, Waterbury.
