Waterbury— Manuel Santiago, 68, of Southview St., died August 7, 2008, at Crescent Manor after an illness. He was the husband to Esthervina (Ferrer) Santiago.
Mr. Santiago was born July 7, 1940, in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, to the late Florentino Santiago Diaz and Rosalia Torres Berrio. During his working career Mr. Santiago was employed for twenty years at Ross and Roberts as a machine operator, then moved on to Uniroyal in Naugatuck where he retired from. During this time he also was the owner of several Penuelas Barber Shop's, located on Willow St., S. Main St. and Baldwin St. He really enjoyed his work and found time to work on cars, play dominoes and cards and spent time with his grandchildren. Manuel was a member of Sacred Heart Sagrado Corazon Church
Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters; Norma and her husband David Dewey of Waterbury, Nitza Fenwick of Maryland, two brothers; Juan Santiago of Huntington, Tinin Santiago of Puerto Rico, two sisters; Romona Rodriguez of Waterbury, Luisa Santiago of Puerto Rico, three grandchildren; Ileana, Olivia and Jason Jr. of Maryland. He was predeceased by two brothers; Pedro and Rafael Santiago and two sisters; Maria Colon and Paula Santiago.
Arrangements: Friends and family are asked to meet directly at Sacred Heart Sagrado Corazon Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 A.M. Monday. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling Hours will be at Bergin Funeral Home, 290 E. Main Street, Waterbury, Sunday, from 3:00pm-6:00pm.
